A friend had asked about a quick breakfast option that wasn’t eggs yesterday, and I had suggested shakes/smoothies. So they were on my mind this morning when I was considering breakfast options. They’re so quick and simple to make, and you can put ingredients into them that are tailored to the flavors you enjoy, so you can’t fail not to find a recipe you like! In fact, Primal Toad has a great ebook with a huge number of primal smoothie recipes you can choose from!
I was short on time this morning, and so I made the super simple shake that I often make when I’m in a hurry. All it involves is some milk (or coconut milk or almond milk), a scoop of almond butter, and some chocolate protein powder (you can try Mark Sisson’s Primal Fuel as your protein powder if you want – I haven’t gotten around to trying it yet). And of course a blender or Vitamix. The recipe below makes a reasonably thick shake with a strong almond butter flavor (also, it’s a 1 cup serving).
