I’ve been making this non-stop because it’s so easy, so flavorful, and so delicious!

There’s a quick video of this recipe here, and a printable version is below:

NOTE: If you have trouble finding garam masala, then try using another powder spice you enjoy (some suggestions are curry powder, paprika, and cumin powder)

Crispy Indian Chicken Drumsticks

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 40 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x
  • Category: Entree
  • Cuisine: Indian

  • 10 chicken drumsticks
  • 23 Tablespoons salt (it’ll depend on the salt you’re using)
  • 34 Tablespoons garam masala (add more for extra flavor) (this is the one I use)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of coconut oil for greasing baking tray

  1. Preheat oven to 450F (230C).
  2. Grease a large baking tray with coconut oil.
  3. Mix the salt and the garam masala together in a bowl.
  4. Make sure the drumsticks are not too wet (otherwise it won’t get crispy).
  5. Coat each drumstick with the mixture and place on the baking tray. Make sure the drumsticks are not touching each other on the tray.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes.

  • Serving Size: 5 drumsticks

I am planning to make this recipe, however I am wondering if the amount salt is correct. Seems like an awful lot of salt. Should it be teaspoons instead of tablespoons?

    Louise - June 25

Hi Sean – it is correct (the salt helps to dry the chicken skin out and make it crispy. But if you don’t like salty food, then you can definitely reduce the amount.

I’ve made this at LEAST 3 times, and we love it!
