Make Your Own Masala Chai Tea Spice Mix/Blend
Looking to make your own chai spice mix to use for hot drinks or to sprinkle into dishes? Then this recipe is for you!
Indian Masala Chai
Everyone in India seems to have their own special family blend for Masala Chai, and there are lots of blends for sale in the US (e.g., this one on Amazon). I bought a small amount from Shashi in Udaipur, India, but I wanted to make my own as well (for fun and for when I run out).
The Spices in Masala Chai
Here are the spices I used for my mix (there are lots of different possibilities, but these are some of the basic ones). Feel free to Pin the photo below! (There are links to purchase the individual spices in the recipe box below.)

Making Masala Chai (Tea)
Masala Chai is often not Paleo, so here’s a Paleo coconut masala chai tea recipe you can make with this masala chai spice blend.
And if you’re in a hurry, then you can make a super fast masala chai (tea) by making black tea (from a teabag with hot water), adding a pinch of masala chai spice into the hot tea, and then adding coconut or almond milk.
And, here are some photos of the amazing city of Udaipur, India (often known as the lake city). Click the arrows at the bottom to view all the photos without leaving this page.
