Paleo Avocado Sweet Potato Toast Recipe
You don’t have to be a millennial to love this Paleo avocado sweet potato toast recipe!
Trendy Food Done Paleo
Back in the day, when someone fired up the toaster at work it was usually to bring a stale bagel back to life or crisp up an English muffin.
These days, however, there’s a very good chance someone is toasting bread to pair with avocado. Your odds increase if you work with a lot of young people.
Instead of being annoyed that their snack has triggered cravings and that the whole place smells like burnt crumbs, focus on making your own Paleo version of avocado toast.
And it just may taste even better than the original.
Hear me out — this version gives you sweet potatoes, one of the most friendly and comfort-food-like of all the vegetables.
And if you like, you can add some Paleo pizza sauce to the mix.
This recipe remix is considered Paleo because we swap the bread for sweet potatoes. And in case you are a skeptic, here’s why sweet potatoes are Paleo.
Paleo Pizza Sauce
You may be wondering why this recipe calls for Paleo pizza sauce. Isn’t regular pizza sauce Paleo?
Unfortunately, if you’re sourcing your sauce from the store you have to investigate, as some are, and some aren’t.
Lest you become overwhelmed by this step, here are a couple of things to look for when shopping for a sauce.
Many sauces contain oil. But the type of oil will determine whether you want to put it in your cart or not. Vegetable oil, soybean oil, and canola oil are common oils you’d be better off staying away from.
Sauce with olive oil (or one that doesn’t contain oil at all) would be a better bet.
You’ll also want to look for added sugar, things you can’t pronounce, and listings like “natural” flavors. If they can’t spell out what those are, they probably aren’t all that nutritious.
