Why Make Your Coffee at Home?

It’s definitely easy to just pick up a cup of coffee from the nearest cafe on your way to work. But if you’re not careful you may end up with a drink that is packed with sugar, dairy or other non-paleo ingredients.

Not to mention the cost – a homemade latte is fairly inexpensive compared to a Starbucks one.

During the summer I’m crazy about iced teas, which you’ll find plenty on this list. The paleo coconut iced tea latte is pretty amazing!

Low-Carb Dairy-Free Cappuccino

Coconut milk cam make a really good alternative to cow’s milk, especially when you are trying to keep the carbs low. If you love your coffee but find the hot stuff a bit too strong on your gut, then you might find cold brew the answer as it tends to be a bit gentler and less acidic on the system! If you are using ground coffee for this paleo and keto compliant recipe, try to make sure you use coarse grounds, otherwise you will be left with a nasty sludgy mess at the bottom of the cup!

Now, most of us have heard of iced tea, but have you tried iced coffee? Perfect for a hot summer day when you need something to lift the spirits and cool you at the same time. This recipe is dairy and gluten free and suitable for paleo, keto, vegetarian and vegan diets. It uses cashew milk, but this can be replaced with any other dairy free milk you enjoy – I like mine with almond milk!

Cardamom Iced Coffee (Using Cold Brew)

Iced coffee is a great pick you up in the morning, and it is so easy to make the night before, then strain and serve when you wake up. This recipe is flavored with cardamom, and can be made dairy free, but if you are not keen on cardamom, there are other alternatives. You can easily replace it with cinnamon or a little bit of nutmeg for a completely different flavor!

This is a very clever recipe that uses the solids from the coconut milk to whip up as a topping, giving this amazing paleo latte look as special as a barista could make! This drink can be served warmed or cold, but I prefer to serve it in a tall latte glass with some ice and the cool, creamy topping, sprinkled with a little cinnamon to round it all off!

Ingredients: organic coffee, filtered water.

Even if you don’t have a fancy French press to make your paleo cold brew coffee, don’t worry, because all you need is a large jar and some cheesecloth! The strong coffee can then be diluted with water, milk of choice, or used as a flavoring for baked goods and frostings. I like to sweeten mine with a little honey and enjoy it sipped slowly over ice on a warm, summer day!

Spiced Cacao Cold Brew Coffee

Ingredients: ground coffee, ground cacao nibs, filtered water, freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick.

Cold brew coffee is a very versatile drink, as it can be flavored with a whole variety of things; think cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, to name a few! This one has a hint of bitter chocolate through it which can be remarkably refreshing in hot weather. If you are a paleo coffee fan, you can make a large batch of concentrate and store it in the refrigerator – it will last for about a week.

Vanilla Bean Sweet Cream Collagen Iced Coffee

Ingredients: full-fat coconut milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, vanilla bean, cold brew coffee, collagen peptides.

Iced coffee is becoming more and more popular than ever, so if you have a bunch of friends coming over for coffee in the afternoon, why not impress with this paleo, creamy, dreamy treat that you can enjoy even on the hottest days! The flavor of the coffee is complemented with the vanilla seeds, but if you don’t have any beans, you can use vanilla extract instead.

Coconut Milk Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Ingredients: Vietnamese ground coffee, hot boiling water, ice cubes, dairy-free condensed milk (paleo condensed milk).

Vietnamese iced coffee is normally sweetened with condensed milk, but this clever recipe uses dairy free condensed milk! If you prefer, you can use a different dairy free creamer – just use your favorite. Regular Vietnamese coffee is very strong, much stronger than regular American coffee, so you might want to try it first to make sure you don’t need to dilute it a bit. If you like it strong, then go ahead!

Simple Mint Tea

There can be nothing more refreshing than a plain cup of mint tea! It is perfect on chilly days to warm you or help soothe a sore throat, or to quench your thirst on a summer day, either as it is or chilled and served as an iced tea drink. You only need a few mint leaves to make this so you can keep the rest for future drinks or garnishes. This is a lovely simple paleo recipe.

Ginger Basil Tea

Ingredients: boiling water, fresh ginger, fresh basil leaves.

Ginger is a great ingredient in a hot drink as it is warming and soothing and can help to ward off colds, ease sore throats and calm digestive issues. The addition of the basil leaves gives an extra level of freshness to the flavor of the drink, making it a lovely warming comforting hot drink for a chilly day! This tea is suitable for both paleo and keto diets, and is also vegetarian.

Homemade Vanilla Chocolate Rooibos Tea

Chinese Chrysanthemum Goji Berry Date Tea

This is a recipe for a traditional Chinese tea, using chrysanthemum and goji berries and dates to give a boost to the nutrients in this drink. The flowers and berries have high levels of vitamins and minerals and give this paleo tea a really unusual flavor. This makes a refreshing drink either warm or iced, and can be sweetened if needed, although its flavor can be enjoyed as it is.

Matcha Green Tea Latte

Once you have blended the tea with the coconut cream you will find it even looks like a latte.

Lemon, Ginger, Honey Tea

Honey and lemon have long been family remedies for sore throats and colds, but with the spice heat from the ginger you could use this tea as simply a good drink to warm you through on a chilly day. The amount of ginger can be amended to suit your palate, but if you have a bad cough you will find it helps to make it slightly stronger. This is a lovely winter paleo warmer for the whole family!

Coconut Masala Chai Tea

Ingredients: coconut cream (from a can of refrigerated coconut milk), water, raw honey, loose black tea leaves, masala tea spice blend.

Masala simply means ‘spice mix’, and the spices used are specifically blended for the tea. They normally include cardamom and nutmeg. This drink has its origins in India, famous for their tea, but is quite simple to make yourself, and by adding coconut cream you can experience the dairy free option at home. Just remember to strain the tea before drinking if you are using loose tea leaves!

Protein Collagen Protein Tea

Collagen can be a really useful source of protein, but is also helpful for maintaining the health of bones and joints. This tea is a simple way to take in the collagen, and might be a good idea for older paleo people, who are suffering with joint pain. The collagen comes in various flavors, so you can experiment until you find the one you like best, then add this delicious drink to your paleo diet!

Orange Cinnamon Ginger Tea

When you look at these ingredients, the first thing that springs to mind is Christmas – the fragrant aromas of ginger and cinnamon! This is another paleo winter warmer!

Apple Tea

Some fruit teas have a lovely scent, but they are lacking a lot in the flavor department – that’s where this recipe comes in! Full of flavor and very aromatic, this paleo apple tea is absolutely delicious served either warm as a soothing winter drink, or chilled and served over ice as a really refreshing glass to enjoy in the summer. You can make this with black tea, or use rooibos if you can’t tolerate caffeine.

This is a really handy paleo recipe as you can make a larger amount of the tea with the coconut sugar dissolved in it and store it in the refrigerator, then pour some over ice and add the coconut milk when you want some. This tea would make a great summer alternative to an afternoon tea with friends, or even a coffee morning! If you don’t tolerate caffeine, you can use a caffeine free tea.

Lemon Thyme Infused Iced Tea

Ingredients: black tea, sprigs of lemon thyme.

There are fewer more refreshing drinks than a good iced tea and they are so easy to make at home where you are in control of what’s in them. The lemon thyme adds a subtle lemon and herb taste to the tea, and apparently lemon thyme can aid digestive problems and soothe an irritating cough. Despite that, this is a lovely summertime paleo drink that will help keep you cool!

Plum Infused Iced Tea

Infusing tea with fruit is a great way to liven up a cuppa, and a good option for using up leftover fruit! The plum adds a lovely sweetness to the tea, and if you can, leave it overnight to infuse completely into the tea mixture, giving you a really refreshing paleo drink for the next day! Other fruits like peach and mango work well here too – just try it for yourself!

Keto Iced Apple Green Tea

Some people are claiming that green teas are really good for you in that they boost brain power and can aid with fat burning, but whether this works for you or not, they make fantastic zero carb and zero calorie drinks that we can use as a cooling drink to rehydrate us, which is important on a specific diet. The apple flavor here comes from the cider vinegar, and it makes sense to taste it often so you only add what you need!

Cold Brew Iced Tea with Lemon and Mint

Ingredients: filtered water, good quality tea bags, lemon slices, fresh mint sprigs, ice cubes.

Cold brew teas are so easy to make and have a much smoother flavor than hot tea. All you need to do is leave the tea leaves in a jug of water in the refrigerator overnight and you are good to go! In the hot weather in summer, why not try to make up a jug every night, then by the morning you have a light and refreshing tea drink to enjoy. Iced tea is perfect for keeping paleo people hydrated in the summer!

Ingredients: filtered water, loose leaf or tea bags black tea, star anise, cinnamon stick, green cardamom pod, whole cloves, honey or maple syrup, coconut sugar, vanilla extract, coconut milk.

If you are serving a Thai meal to your friends or family, it can be a lovely authentic idea to serve Thai tea along with the food. It has the aromas and flavors of the traditional spices and makes a lovely chilled drink to enjoy on its own too. This recipe is easy to make, paleo, and dairy free. If you don’t tolerate caffeine, try using decaffeinated teabags instead.

Naturally Sweetened Thai Iced Tea (Dairy-Free)

Thai iced tea is normally made using condensed milk and other ingredients that are not paleo friendly, so here is a useful paleo alternative recipe which is dairy free, but still give the same type of flavor. It is easy to prepare and only uses a few ingredients, so it is easy on the wallet too! This makes a lovely refreshing drink for a summer day, or as an accompaniment to serve with a Thai meal.

Strawberry-Hibiscus Iced Tea

If you have never tried hibiscus tea before, the flavor is something like cranberry – slightly tart and fruity, and it goes really well with mint and strawberry, giving you a really refreshing iced tea for the summer time. This is a sugar and dairy free paleo recipe, although you may want to sweeten it with a little honey to take the bitter edge off the flavor.
