Eating Out Paleo: Sutro’s at the Cliff House, San Francisco, CA
It’s worth eating at Sutro’s at the Cliff House just for the view alone! It’s absolutely stunning – the restaurant has flour to ceiling windows facing the ocean on the tip of San Francisco. So, pick a reservation time before it gets dark – lunch or just before sunset are fantastic.
We got there just before sunset and managed to snap some amazing photos before going in to eat (the food was good too, and there are plenty of photos of the food below!).
The Food
The menu (which you can view here) is heavy on seafood, but there’s duck, lamb, beef, and pork! There were plenty of Paleo options to choose from.
Appetizers at Sutro’s
We started with some local Oysters with pink peppercorn, meyer lemon, and mignonette
Braised Mussels with harissa, caramelized onions, and anchor steam beer (not a Paleo sauce)
Octopus Salad
Ahi Tuna Tartare with pine nuts, asian pear, mint, quail egg, and habanero infused sesame oil
Entrees at Sutro’s
Bacon Crusted Scottish Salmon with apple, rainbow chard, potato puree, and whole grain mustard sauce
Bouillabaisse with saffron-tomato broth, soft shell crab, shrimp, clams, and mussels
Scallop & Pork Belly Surf and Turf with butternut squash puree, pimentón braised greens, and chicharrón gremolata
