Bacon Wrapped Blue Cheese-Stuffed Dates

I have no idea who originally came up with this absolutely fabulous concoction, but she/he must have been a genius! I first had bacon wrapped blue cheese stuffed dates at Traif in Brooklyn, NY, and I have been in love with them ever since.

If you’ve never tried these, then you are seriously missing out. I love serving them at dinners as a passed appetizer – everyone always loves them. But sometimes, I make them just for myself as a treat.

Here’s a quick photo guide to making these amazing treats – please pin to Pinterest by hovering over the photo and clicking the “Pin “It” button.

Bacon Wrapped Blue Cheese-Stuffed Dates

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4-5 servings 1x
  • Category: Appetizer
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 14 pitted dates
  • 7 slices of bacon (cut each in half to create 14 shorter bacon slices)
  • 0.2lbs of blue cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Slice each date along one side so that it opens up.
  3. Fill each date with blue cheese and close it up. Wrap one of the half slices of bacon around the date and place in a baking tray with sides (as the fat from the bacon tends to run).
  4. Bake in the oven for 20 min before flipping the bacon-wrapped dates over (I found tongs useful for this).
  5. Bake for another 10 min (i.e. for a total of 30min).

I think you could stuff a date with cat poop and it would still be a delicacy. These look so good. I have never been a fan of really strong cheeses, but maybe in a date, I would LOVE it. I bet it mellows the flavor out a little.

I knew I had bacon on my grocery list for a reason other than … well…. bacon. Yum, these look delicious

Kim - December 3

Had these at an Ohio State VS Michigan football party the other day. Was delicious!! Only thing my friend did differently was add some Jack Daniels BBQ sauce over top before she cooked it. The whole thing is the perfect combination of sweet/salty, crunchy/creamy and sweet/savory! Looking forward to making for my office Christmas party!

    Perfect!!
