It may seem unusual, but this paleo collagen protein tea recipe will warm and nourish you.

It’s Not Your Average Cup of Tea

I try to guess how people will react to new recipes, and I suspect there will be a few different responses to this one.

The first batch of you are all in, stoked, and waiting to try it. In fact, you probably skipped right over this section. Fair enough, I applaud enthusiasm.

The next batch of you are probably intrigued. That’s great – I’ll explain why you may want to deviate from your normal tea routine.

I can imagine there are also some skeptics wondering if this is just another health fad that someone is trying to cash in on.

I’ll let you make your own decision, but here are some of the reasons I think it’s worth adding some collagen to your diet.

The Potential Benefits of Collagen

As someone with an autoimmune condition, I’m very aware of the havoc leaky gut can have on the body. And collagen, it seems, is an ally in healing leaky gut.

Your intestines are built with collagen, and it’s a building block throughout the body. It’s found in joints, hair, skin, nails, organs, muscles, and tendons.

So if you’re already packed with collagen, why do you need more? Unfortunately, the collagen you have when you’re young is not in it for the long haul.

You start making less collagen around your mid-30s, and about half your stash is gone by the time you hit 60.

So taking in a little extra can have a lot of benefits.

If you’re less than satisfied with the condition of your skin, hair, and/or nails, collagen might be a good thing to try.

Your achy joints may also benefit from an extra boost of collagen. Although more research needs to be done, many people with joint pain have seen improvements from taking collagen.

Collagen is also a great source of protein. If your diet is lacking in this area, this powder is an easy way to make up lost ground.

Other Uses for Collagen Powder

If tea isn’t your thing, don’t despair. Collagen powder, if it’s not flavored, is pretty tasteless.

That means you can add it to just about anything. Smoothies are a great option that work for many people.

You could also put it in almond milk, coffee, or even water.
