The 18 Best Paleo Snacks You Can Buy
1. Dark Chocolate
Tcho 99 is our go-to dark chocolate snack. If you have trouble finding Tcho, then several other chocolate brands have produced good 100% chocolates too (e.g., Lindt, Bakers, Scharffen Berger).
If 100% dark chocolate is too dark for you, try some around 80% instead like this delicious Taza stone-ground 87% chocolate or get this bundle of dark chocolates to see which you like the best.
2. Epic Meat Bars
We buy whole boxes of Epic bars because they’re so delicious – they are protein bars made from high quality meat and some dried fruit. Our favorite is the Bison Bacon Cranberry, but all their flavors are tasty. Visit their website here. Or you can find them on Amazon here. Read our full review here.
3. Bearded Brothers Energy Bars
Think dried fruits, nuts, and seeds, combined together in perfect harmony to form a moist and delicious energy bar. That’s the Bearded Brothers Energy Bars! Our favorite is the radical raspberry lemon flavor.
4. Nick’s Sticks
If you’re looking for a low carb (or zero carb) option, then Nick’s Sticks are perfect. They’re high in protein (made from grass-fed beef or free-range turkey), amazing in taste, and have zero carbohydrates!
5. Coconut Butter
Keep a jar of this at work along with a spoon, and when you feel like you need a snack in the afternoon, slather some coconut butter on a piece of 100% dark chocolate. Healthy and delicious! Our favorite brand of coconut butter is Artisana (it tastes fresher and is smoother in texture).
6. Pork Rinds
If you miss potato chips, then give pork rinds a try (but be aware that most brands have non-Paleo ingredients). Our favorite Paleo pork rind brand is 4505 Meats’ Chicharrones, although Epic has released its own pork rinds too that’s worth trying.
7. Beef Jerky
Good Paleo beef jerky is remarkably difficult to find! That’s why our favorite is Sophia’s Grass-Fed Jerky Chews. If beef jerky isn’t your thing, then US Wellness Meats has a turkey jerky with just 2 ingredients (turkey and celtic sea salt).
8. Go Raw Cookies
If you’re looking for a not too sweet, slightly crunchy snack, then Go Raw Cookies are great! They’re made from coconut, sprouted sesame seeds, dates, and some spices. And one bag of these can last for quite a bit!
9. Kale Chips
Kale chips – crunchy and flavorful. There are lots of great brands or you can make your own. What makes some of them so unique though is their flavors…like Alive & Radiant’s Spicy Kale Krunch!
10. Seasnax
If you haven’t tried toasted seaweed, then you really should – they’re light, slightly crunchy and slightly salty! They’re so good, they can get seriously addictive. The best brand is Seasnax as they don’t use canola oil in their product – they use olive oil instead.
11. Jilz Crackers
Crackers are hard to come by on a Paleo diet, but this one is really tasty. Spread some nut butter or some healthy guacamole onto these Jilz crackers. You can get them on Amazon or on Thrive Market.
12. Canned Smoked Oysters
Oysters are one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can find! While these canned smoked oysters sound rather unusual, they’re actually super tasty (as well as amazingly good for you). Plus these keep for ages so stock up and keep some at the office as well as at home.
13. Plantain and Cassava Chips
If you miss the crunch from potato chips, then you’ll love these plantain and cassava chips from Artisan Tropic. Don’t buy too many at once as you might eat them too fast!
14. eXo Protein Bars
If you’re looking for a protein bar, then give eXo bars a try! The protein in them is from cricket flour, but they taste just like other protein bars. The Cacao Nut flavor has very Paleo ingredients.
15. Cacao Nibs
If you’re looking for a crunch, then cacao nibs are perfect. Plus, because they’re so small, they’re harder to overeat. The Navitas Naturals brand of cacao nibs is the one we snack on, and you can find them in a lot of health stores (I found them in Target the other day).
16. Canned Sardines in Olive Oil
You’re probably already aware that canned fish (like tuna or salmon) make great Paleo snacks, but you might not have tried canned sardines yet. Find sardines packed in extra olive oil (like this one from Wild Planet). These are super nutritious and easy to take with you.
17. Nut Butters
Nut butters are easy and filling snacks – you can spread them on apple slices, carrot and celery sticks, or on Paleo crackers like Jilz crackers.
Make sure the nut butters you get don’t have peanuts or non-Paleo oils (like sunflower oil). Try Paleo MeeNut butters or for handy lunchbox packets, try Justins Squeeze packets.
18. Guacamole
Guacamole is another Paleo snack you can spread on other Paleo snacks. Filled with lots of healthy fats, guacamole is one of the ultimate Paleo snacks. Wholly Guacamole even makes mini packs you can take on the go with you.
Other Simple Paleo Snacks You Can Purchase
Of course, there are even simpler snacks you can purchase or make like various seeds and nuts (note that peanuts are a legume and not a nut), dried fruits, fresh fruits, canned tuna or salmon, hard boiled eggs, etc. For nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, Nuts.com has a great selection of them.
Where To Purchase All These Paleo Snacks?
Many of them are available at your local Whole Foods or health store or on Amazon.com.
If you’re looking to save money, then buying these Paleo snacks on Thrive Market (US only) will save you a ton – they’re like Costco for health foods.
