This Study Should Be Illegal: Why Vegetable Oils Are Still Terrible
I’ve kicked the vegetable oil horse more times than I care to count.
But I came across a study that’s both informative and also sad.
Here’s an article on the study:
Some ‘Healthy’ Vegetable Oils May Actually Increase Risk of Heart Disease
Vegetable Oils Are Worse Than You Think
There are 3 reasons that I talk about vegetable oils so often:
1. Vegetable Oils are one of the biggest sources of toxins in our modern diets;
2. This is one of the easiest (and cheapest) things we can change;
3. And yet, it’s not getting changed very fast, if at all.
In the Canadian study that the article references, participants were either fed vegetable oil or animal fats. The group fed vegetable oils had lower cholesterol but significantly higher death from all causes.
In other words, vegetable oils were significantly correlated with dying at an increased rate.
The study looks just at that correlation, but it’s not hard at all to surmise why this was the case. These vegetable oils are high in Omega-6 fats, highly inflammatory, and typically malformed by chemical processing.
Step Away From the Seed Oils
If you haven’t already, please stop using any kind of vegetable or seed oil (corn, canola, safflower, sunflower, soybean, vegetable, etc.).
Switching to something like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, or some form of animal fat is clearly superior and not a difficult change to make.
