I can’t get enough berries, especially when the weather starts to get warm. Growing up, I used to eat strawberries and sugar by the handful from my grandmother’s garden for breakfast all summer long. This Paleo açaí bowl has all the berry flavor of my childhood with twice the nutrients. It all starts with the superfood açaí. Then we add pack in even more nutrients by adding CoBionic Foundation for an extra boost. What is Açaí?

Açaí is a type of “berry” native to Brazil, Peru, Suriname and Trinidad. The açaí tree is a type of palm tree and it is also cultivated for hearts of palm. Technically, the açaí berry is not a berry but a drupe, which is a type of fruit that has a hard pit. Other drupes include peaches and cherries. Açaí berries have a very short shelf life and cannot be transported in their natural form. They are most often sold as a frozen puree, juice, or powder.

Açaí is considered a superfood and there are a number of health benefits associated with eating açaí berries. Açaí berries are packed with antioxidants. In fact, they have more than double the antioxidant levels as blueberries [1]. More importantly, scientists have found that the antioxidants in açaí are well-absorbed, maximizing their benefits [2].

Description

This fruity bowl is packed with antioxidants, and berry flavor!


Ingredients

For the smoothie bowl –

  • 1 packet (100 g) frozen unsweetened acai puree (run under warm water for 1 minute)
  • 1 cup (80 g) frozen raspberries
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) raw honey (optional)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 scoop CoBionic Foundation

For the topping –

  • Handful of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, for topping
  • 1 Strawberry, sliced, for topping
  • 1 passionfruit, seeds scooped out, for topping
  • 1 kiwi, sliced, for topping
  • 1 Tablespoon coconut flakes, for topping

Instructions

  1. To make the smoothie bowl, use a good blender to the defrosted açaí, raspberries, frozen banana, raw honey, coconut milk, and CoBionic Foundation. Pour into 2 bowls.
  2. Top with vibrant, colorful toppings and enjoy.
